Sri Lanka Vs England
England won the toss and elected to field
Match delayed by a wet outfield

Current time: 14:25 local, 13:25 GMT
England team
C Kieswetter†, AN Cook*, IJL Trott, KP Pietersen, EJG Morgan, IR Bell, TT Bresnan, SCJ Broad, GP Swann, JM Anderson, JW Dernbach

Sri Lanka team
DPMD Jayawardene, TM Dilshan*, LD Chandimal, KC Sangakkara†, AD Mathews, SHT Kandamby, BMAJ Mendis, KMDN Kulasekara, RAS Lakmal, S Randiv, SL Malinga

2.20pm England win the toss and bowl Cook unfurls a few cliches about 'bit of green', 'first use' and that sort of thing. Nick Knight asks Dilshan what's he doing to do? "Bat first," he replies indulgently.

Both teams unchanged, as we expected and line up like this:

England 1 Craig Kieswetter (wk), 2 Alastair Cook (capt), 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Ian Bell, 7 Tim Bresnan, 8 Graeme Swann, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 James Anderson, 11 Jade Dernbach.

Sri Lanka 1 Tillakaratne Dilshan (capt) 2 Mahela Jayawardene, 3 Dinesh Chandimal, 4 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 5 Thilina Kandamby, 6 Angelo Mathews, 7 Jeevan Mendis, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 9 Suranga Lakmal, 10 Suraj Randiv, 11 Lasith Malinga.

So England have reverted to chasing again. Presumably because their batsmen made such a fluff of setting a total at Lord's but the conditions, which are much more in their favour here, will suit their bowlers.

2.15pm 2.20pm Toss, 2.40pm start, 50 overs a side provided we don't get any more interruptions. Quality stuff. Meanwhile Cook is striding to the middle clutching a sheet of paper, which we expect reads "unchanged team" or perhaps "tell Broady to pitch it up". Probably not.

2.10pm "I would suggest people read Sanga's full speech, it was not just about the corruption and bad administration. That took up only a small part in a very long and wonderful speech that really gave you a good insight into Sri Lankan Cricket." Totally agree Riyas, it's a sweeping and brilliant speech about many, many things. Also worth reading Peter Roebuck's comment. Here's a snippet:

Kumar Sangakkara has made the most important speech in cricket history. Brushing aside the twin temptations of romance and sentiment, the erudite Sri Lankan has dared to confront the truths about cricket in his country. Along the way he struck many meaty blows on the game's behalf. His discourse was nothing less than a challenge to cricket to set higher standards for itself, to reject jealousy, pettiness and greed, and to become part of the enlightenment.

2.00pm We should be starting now, but we're not. Some other news is that Graeme Swann is officially ranked the world's best ODI bowler. Well done him. Oh look, it's bright sunshine again. It's going to be one of those days.

"I was amazed at the courage of Sanga on state of Sri Lankan (and perhaps World cricket), to speak out openly and freely about the nonsense that is being dished out," says Murli. "I hope there are no other repercussions to that bold speech. Well done Sanga. Wish Tendulkar, Ponting, and Co, would speak out too."

"I believe that there was a certain Kevin Pietersen opening the batting while at the World Cup and he definitely did not do a bad job of it," points out Cecil eagerly. "A quickfire 30+ or 40+ at the top is what England requires right now." True, but if Kieswetter can't bash 30 or 40 in quick time then he shouldn't in the team.

1.50pm Gnasher warns us that the run-ups are being covered but assures us that it's still not raining. Sky have just done a montage of Stuart Broad being upset in a variety of situations. It's hilarious but also rather sad. He's yet to take a wicket this series and the frustration is palpable. Tell you what else is frustrating, it's raining again.

1.40pm Right, some brighter news from Gnasher: "It's stopped raining, side covers rolling off." Here's something Liam has dug out, Kieswetter batted at either No. 6 or No. 7 in the Under-19 World Cup 2005-06, maybe he and Bell could swap? Apparently he only made runs against USA though, a 75-ball 80 at Colombo. So, there's precedent. Sort of. Liam hasn't finished (sadly), "It's also where he batted for Somerset 2nd XI when he first came to the county."

With that to tempt you, just a reminder that Andrew Miller, Andrew McGlashan, Liam Brickhill and me, Sahil Dutta, are on Twitter.

1.30pm Afternoon all, Nottingham is the venue for today's ODI. Been a busy last couple of days, Alastair Cook has had his captaincy and team questioned, while Kumar Sangakkara delivered a staggering, brilliant MCC spirit of cricket lecture. I'm Sahil Dutta, and I'll be joined by Andrew Miller and Liam Brickhill to bring you today's action.

Andrew Gnasher McGlashan is at Trent Bridge and brings bad news. "Spots of rain, covers on." Not ideal then, though England might be smiling, they love a touch of rain. According to the sages on Twitter, both teams will be unchanged. That means, excitingly enough, I've managed to get something right in my preview. You might as well read it, since Gnasher confirms the toss is delayed.

What thoughts on England remaining unchanged? Good to keep the faith or stubborn selectors?
