1.40pm For all those who have changes to make to their fantasy teams, Nagraj Gollapudi reckons India will pick Manoj Tiwaty, who has barely made it in time. The elements have tried their best, but India are still likely to stick with their formula of seven batsmen and four bowlers
1.30pm Time for some amateur calculation. I am presuming that there is no extension available beyond the scheduled close of 10.15pm. So to get a 20-over game in, we need 168 minutes (considering 4.2 minutes per over as an ODI innings of 50 overs is supposed to last three-and-a-half hours) for the 40 overs and a minimum 10-minute break. All that means, and I am not confirming it yet, we need to get the game underway not later than 7.17pm. Of course the ground staff is hopeful that the weather will go away at around 4pm and they will need another hour and a half to get the ground ready after that. By the way it's not raining at the moment, and the ground staff are hard at work. Those heavy winds might actually help us get a game tonight
1.10pm It is very windy in Southampton right now and it is raining on and off. It's a 50-50 scenario between a game and a washout. While we wait for the weather to clear up, it's competition time. Win a pair of tickets to the Lord's ODI, courtesy our chums at Kingfisher.
1.00pm Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the second ODI between England and India. The lead-up to this match, though, has been mostly about rains and injuries. The latter, though, is hardly news. And the former seems to have stopped for now. Andrew Miller has just tweeted this: "Enthrallingly, the rain has stopped for now. Still grim, grey, autumnal and utterly vile, but there's a figment of a prospect of a match". Lest you feel too hopeful, let me tell you it has rained since 4am, and the weather is not expected to really clear up before 4pm. If it does become clement, though, this ground drains well, and it shouldn't take too long after that. The groundsman, aptly Nigel Grey for today, has just told Star Cricket that once it stops raining it will take them around 90 minutes of dry spell to get the game started.
