After defeat against the Sydney Thunder on Saturday, the Melbourne Stars will look to bounce back immediately when they travel to Queensland to face the Brisbane Heat on Tuesday. Both teams were expected to fare well in the inaugural KFC T20 Big Bash League and after initial defeats, will have a point to prove. The Stars were unlucky to run into an unstoppable David Warner at the MCG, with the left-hander single-handedly getting the Thunder over the line with a 51-ball 102 as Sydney successfully chased down a target of 154 with six balls to spare.

That score was probably about 10 or 15 runs short as Melbourne were made to pay for a slow start with the bat.

David Hussey (52 from 27 balls) was the best performer with the bat for the Stars while James Faulkner (2-20) impressed with his bowling. But the likes of Matthew Wade (14), George Bailey (23) and Cameron White (1) will all be disappointed with their efforts with the bat while the Stars can expect improvement from England quick Jade Dernbach (0-36).Shane Warne claimed 0-19 from two overs against the Sydney Thunder, with the legendary leg-spinner running into a Warner who was taking no prisoners in his breathtaking display.

The 42-year-old will be keen for a quick response though and he would have taken encouragement from the way Brisbane struggled with the leg-spin of former Australian teammate Stuart MacGill, who took 2-21 against the Heat at the SCG.In addition to the 12-man squad who took on the Thunder, paceman Jackson Bird and Peter Handscomb will also travel to Brisbane with the Stars.Brisbane, meanwhile, will also want to make a big first impression in front of their home fans at the Gabba after slumping to a seven-wicket loss to the Sydney Sixers in the tournament opener at the SCG on Friday.

Brendon McCullum will be eager to bounce back from his five-run effort in the Heat's first-up clash and the explosive opener has the ability to tear any bowling attack apart.Keeping him and veteran Matthew Hayden quiet is crucial if the Stars are to win, while all-rounders James Hopes and Dan Christian are also highly talented in the short form of the game.Paceman Ryan Harris has been declared fit for the game and will play a first-class match for the first time since injuring his hip while on Test duty for Australia. And, with Boxing Day just around the corner, he will be keen to impress the Australian selectors.

But he will face a series of Stars batsmen eager to give their side their first-ever victory in what is sure to be an exciting match.Brisbane Heat: James Hopes (c), Dan Christian, Brendon McCullum, Matthew Hayden, Chris Lynn, Andrew Robinson, Peter Forrest, Ryan Harris, Nick Buchanan, Nathan Hauritz, Alister McDermott, Joe Burns, Michael Neser (two to be omitted, 12th man to be named).Melbourne Stars: Cameron White (c), Rob Quiney, Matthew Wade, George Bailey, David Hussey, Cameron White, Adam Voges, Luke Wright, James Faulkner, Clint McKay, Shane Warne, Jade Dernbach, Peter Handscomb, Jackson Bird (two to be omitted, 12th man to be named).
